Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In this section you will find answers to Frequently Asked Questions about bestpractice Decision Support.

Who do I call if I have any issues?

If you have any queries please call the Support Line freephone 0800 633 236. Our other contact details can be found here.

How do I save my progress if I am interrupted, or wish to pass on to a colleague?

To do this you choose the Park option, when you want to Resume the session, choose the resume option on the first screen. There is no limit to how many times you park or resume a module.

Please note if you park a session and then resume, it will not extract any new information. If you want to make changes or wish to add some parameters eg. lab results that weren’t previously available, and wish to incorporate these, it is recommended you start a new session.

If you wish to view data that has been entered from a previous parked session, resume that session and click on Data in the top menu tab.

Is plasma glucose an issue when calculating CVD risk?

bestpractice uses the Framingham equation with adjustments for NZ; plasma glucose does not impact on this as it is not part of the calculation. A value is required to be able to continue past the data entry screen, so if you have not requested a fasting plasma glucose, some practices choose to use a fingerprick test result.

What about new people/contacts that I send referrals to?

If a contact you use is not listed in the drop down menu, you can add in your own by selecting ‘add contact’ from the drop down menu.
